Eid Mubarak!

Image
Last Sunday we celebrated Eid. Eid is celebrated after completing 30 days of fasting during the Holy Month of Ramadan. I have done multiple Eid posts in the past here are a few 2024  and 2021   We started the morning early, before dawn, to go to the mosque for Eid prayers. Afterwards we came home and after a quick refresh we headed out for Eid breakfast.  Our mosque hosts an Eid breakfast every year as well but we have a bit of a family tradition to eat out..  We ate at Edison Automat.. and if you ever find yourself in Edison, New Jersey I highly recommend it.  H teaching M how to Pokemon.  Later that night we got all dressed up and headed out to dinner with friends. The dinner place I will not recommend. We had reservations and had pre ordered our dinner the night before at the restaurants request and it still took them, no kidding 3 hours to get food on the table. THREE HOURS!  The rest of the week was pretty normal.. ev...

This photograph was taken in 2008. We took a little trip to Washington DC with some friends to see the cherry blossoms. It was so pretty. If you haven't been you really must. The planting of cherry trees in Washington DC originated in 1912 as a gift of friendship to the People of the United States from the People of Japan. The print is available on a variety of products and can be purchased here                              Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Yesterday we celebrated Eid. But today is not an Eid post. We still have more celebrating into next weekend so I will do an official Eid post next Monday. Hopefully with lots of pictures.  Instead today is a book post. It has not been a good reading month. More misses than hits but oh well. Del Sol native Sunshine Vicram has returned to town as the elected sheriff - thanks to her adorably meddlesome parents who nominated her--and she expects her biggest crime wave to involve an elderly flasher named Doug. Welcome to present day.. we have put all our December travel posts behind us but if you follow me on Instagram I still have loads of videos to share.. More exciting is that spring break is coming up and we have another adventure planned. Today in our 18th day of fasting. And honestly the last 17 days went by quiet quickly. Life gets very busy during Ramadan.. each days starts to blur into the next. D is not fasting this year but H has fasted for 9 days so far.  Speaking of D, we are officially on month 9 of his treatment. For those not in the know I posted about his condition here . While it has been a long road we have made progress. We are currently in a medication reduction phase of treatment. Every two weeks we are lessening the dosage of his eye drops and so far we have seen no regression so yay! He is also doing well.. in fact he was awarded student of the month.  Reading has been slow.. mainly because I am stuck in a series. I have started the final book but I am not l...

This is my last photograph from my hand series. It was part of a school project and I needed to have a certain amount of photographs and well I was struggling to fill in that last spot. So this was a little experiment. I found a pane of glass, painted my hand with red paint, a flashlight and well this was the result.  This print and other products can be purchased  here  and here .                                            Etsy             Instagram             Twitter             Redbubble             Zazzle

Two Days in Tucson

Image
Continuing with our winter trip to Arizona. For those who are new here, we started our trip in   Page   then headed to   Vegas . We took a day trip to   Valley of Fire   and then went to the beautiful city of   Sedona . On our  way to Tucson we made a quick stop at Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch .  After checking in to our hotel and taking a little break we headed out to downtown Tucson, we didn't even park.. we drove around but didn't seem bustling with activity or people.. Next we headed to 4th ave in the Historic District. It was a fun street with lots of shops, a bit on the sketchy side but nothing dangerous. We checked out some of the thrift stores until it was time for dinner.  We ate at El Charro Cafe, founded in 1922, is the oldest Mexican restaurant in Tucson; the original owner, Monica Flin, is said to have invented the chimichanga.   Everything was so good! The next day after a quick hotel breakfast we visite...
